I started this project in part because there were some online friends who weren’t righties who were interested in prepping and the online prepper communities that welcome liberals, feminists etc tend to be hot garbage. So I’m not going to be pointing fingers or talking politics, except to post the top graphic which I think reflects more and more the mood of the right, including myself.
But the sense the country is irreparably divided is growing in most people’s minds. Open conflict is feared though open conflict has been happening for years at this point including cities being sacked and political assassinations. The civil war already started we all just pretend it hasn’t.
So I’m taking some conversations I’ve had and reformed them as questions and answers for brevity.
I’m not an expert. These are my opinions based on more than a decade of covering crime, politics and their intersection. I also have a advanced degree and I use the methodology I was taught to study comparative religion to study groups in America. I’m a long time online righty who has freelanced for some bigger names and my wife still works with online content creation. When I freelanced I often wrote about the same leftist groups we see active now so I have a background in that research. That’s where I’m coming from in terms of what I’m thinking.
Let’s get into it:
Who will be on either side in a second civil war in America? Americans think a new civil war will be like the first American civil war but that was an outlier in civil wars. Most civil wars are like the Balkans in the 90s or Syria. There will be multiple groups with shifting alliances all vying for control of resources and, unfortunately, looking to abuse in various ways their enemies, real or perceived. An easy way to describe this is multipolar - there will be several different factions.
Most people are taught (via the media) that this will be a left vs right war but we already see the shifting alliances happening. For example Radical Feminists are now considered enemies of the left (politically we predicted this a while ago but that’s not important here) and if people are familiar with my social media you’ll see I pal around with a few online - because we initially bonded over one or two issues and then were able to see each other as people not categories. Trump’s election opened the GOP to an influx of gay, Black and Latino voters (something many of us long worked for) and we were surprised how vicious the “moderate” “intellectual” wing of our party was to the newcomers. It became clear that there were in fact elements of the GOP establishment who wanted to keep parties divided by arbitrary categories like race, class and sexual preference.
All that is to say that if war like in Syria broke out and I had to choose between being in a fox hole with a gay man who was a first time GOP voter and a “terf” (Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminist) or the staff of National Review (who I consider borderline communists traitors) I’d pick the gay guy and the terf every time. This is going to surprise many people who see the world in terms of left vs right.
You will (and are) making similar decisions all the time. Some Americans are (in my opinion) doing this wrong. Many are looking at superficial similarities and thinking that will be a good basis for an alliance but they’re super wrong on how people see differences and similarity. For brevity which has already been abused here I’ll explain this point with a meme I stole from someone:
Civil War 2 would more look like you turning on the news to find food riots in a city because farmers are not shipping food in retaliation for city led farm raids while Black and Latino gangs are fighting each other then you hearing a story of the ATF burning down half a block of suburbs somewhere because they were “extremists” while suffering 30% casualties. On the next channel you’ll see “wilding attacks” like in pre-Giuliani NYC. Then you’ll hear your neighbors fighting over the fact one does Yoga so they’re a “Satanist” or whatever. Then you’ll see most cities looking like the day the LAPD pulled out of LA.
It’ll get worse from there.
Do you think there will be a race war? Short answer no this is a fantasy of the communists and white nationalist communities. Long answer racial violence (partly driven by the media) will feature heavily within another civil war but not “whites vs POCs” like people are suggesting.
I’m biracial and grew up in an all Black family so let me tell you a dirty little secret. Black people hate Haitians, Jamaicans, Nigerians and all the other African descended people and vice versa. My mother was disgusted when I dated a girl from Trinidad even though she clearly wasn’t a racist in general.
The Ku Klux Klan, Aryan Brotherhood/Circle and Neo Nazis all hate each other.
The downwardly mobile W.A.S.P.s who make up much of the woke movement hate Italian Americans.
Dominicans hate Puerto Ricans.
Mexicans hate Blacks.
The leftist media has taught you a racist, progressive era theory that the world is the “White man” and everyone else. Like the theory of old the new progressives think the Whites are naturally on top (privilege) and thus they must care for the inferior races. The reality is that there is as much difference between “White” folks internally as there is between a Black family from the Bronx and a White family from Appalachia.
So if you’re thinking you can just find the people with the right skin tones to be safe with in a civil war in America I’ve got bad news for you. But if you’re the only X in an area full of Y you will be targeted during a civil war.
The melting pot theory of American integration was a successful movement to stop the cultural violence from Europe expanding here. We didn’t want Scots Irish and Anglos fighting in the hills while Arcadians hid in the forests raiding Poles. We wanted one over arching culture that respected people’s heritage while celebrating our unified love of Liberty. My opinion is that Marxist teachers purposefully destroyed that so civil war would be easier.
The point here is while racial violence will become even more common there will be no Wakanda in the middle of America nor will a Whites only ethnostate survive here more than a few months before they turn on the Italians and are then raided by the Hell’s Angels.
Who will the Army side with? The US Army in particular had a purge of conservative leaning warfighters so it’s safe to say they will be part of a left coalition in general but various units and individuals will side with the right. The Marines might go to the right. National Guard units will revert to their states. Border patrol surprised a lot of people with their effectiveness in dealing with leftist insurgency in Portland. I think they will be part of a “Trumpist” coalition while the FBI and ATF join a harder left government faction. Not sure about Navy and Air Force but this is just my opinion.
This is all opinion based on observation of first hand sources like service members social media so I could be off base.
A lot of GWOT veterans are part of the patriot movement so it’ll look like a professional (though underfunded) army is on the right. Groups like BLM and Antifa will be hard enough to control that no matter how left leaning the Army or feds are they will eventually have to stomp all over them just to conserve their resources.
I think foreign troops, specifically CCP and Marxist South American troops, will be called on for aid by the left wing of the government but they are paper tigers at best. Cartels will also play a major factor.
Unless you’re in or joining a militia this is interesting facts for you and good intel but not more important than learning who your neighbors are and what they’re about.
What kind of guns/training should I get? For survival I’ve made my methodology for picking guns and equipment known and will continue to do so, obviously. But I’m not a warfighting expert. I do know if you’re physically not capable of meeting basic military standards you will be a hindrance to any militia you join regardless of how great your gear is. In general this would be being able to run a mile and a half in under 13 minutes and being able to knock out 50 push ups and sit ups in a row.
Here’s a list of people who I recommend who talk about this, or train people:
Clint Smith at Thunder Ranch. Also has an Instagram and YouTube to check out.
Garand Thumb is the best tactical content creator out there.
Haley Strategic offers quality training and equipment run by this guy:
American Partisan is a old fashioned blog that covers a lot of this in between political rants.
But there are probably many more I’m just not familiar enough with that scene to confidently recommend anyone.
Should I move? Really depends on your area. And your resources. For most people it’s not possible to just pick up and move. I moved to South Carolina from NYC and love it and feel secure though I know in my area things will be bad. Having lived in NYC, NJ and CT I’d say I’d never move back there. But I can’t answer that for you. It’s better to live in a area where you have more danger but more of a support system ( big families etc) than live somewhere where you have no support and some danger. But that’s my opinion.
