People Have Stopped Cooperating With Feds
The word on the street is people are scared to talk to feds.
I’m writing this on Halloween night so I decided to post this scary story. Federal authorities (and cops in general) are having trouble in everyday interactions with “civilians” during their regular case load. There’s a lot to unpack here so buckle up.
First off I’m telling you something I heard that fits with some things I’ve seen. I used to write about crime so I have “sources” (just people I email with on occasion or pal around with on the web) some of whom are LEO and some are still crime writers or reporters. I also follow crime news still. When I used to blog about crime I did a series called Word on the Street which was basically rumors from people who would have some knowledge of criminality. If you knew a dealer who told you to stay off such and such street on a certain day then the “word on the street” is something is going down on that street on that day. That’s to give you an idea of how this works.
I was talking with someone about the Delphi murder case arrest which is a story in and of itself and we were discussing why it took several years for anyone to point out that the murderer was who it was even though there was video and audio evidence. There was also some confusion on why the feds had to pick up some pedos that everyone seemed to know were active in the community.
The more important question is whether feds and local authorities were dragging their feet or not. I’m not sure about that but we then talked about some other cases we knew of where people out and out refused to talk to feds in particular for a variety of reasons. One thing we both have noticed is an uptick in people who don’t trust law enforcement but especially federal officers. Here’s what we know:
Forums and social media is full of people jailhouse lawyering - this probably leads to people thinking they can’t say anything to cops or feds without getting jammed up.
A lot of people on the left and right have had negative interactions (from their perspectives) with feds and are just now getting out if they ended up doing time. So the bad feelings of the ex cons is spilling out into their wider social groups. This also happened in the last crime wave.
The left truly believes the feds let the Gypsy Jokers kill Antifa members. My read is that Antifa didn’t know who the Jokers were, started a fight and got dealt with. I’m told the Jokers basically aren’t interesting in Antifa anymore but that maybe Antifa had to pay “taxes” to them.
The right sees the Jan 6th prosecutions as communist style kangaroo courts for political purposes.
These are all things you can verify for yourself by spending some time talking to politically active folks online or IRL
What I’ve heard that I can’t verify:
Cops in general but especially feds are losing support from acquaintances and the community. They’re experiencing social pressures unless they’re in DC. Morale is getting very low for a lot of agents.
Crimes aren’t being reported in some areas because witnesses think the feds will leak their names to the media (or worse) if they have “the wrong politics” - an example I was given is that feds and LE have been made aware of a doxxing website called called CopBlaster which puts up a “snitch list” database complete with the names and addresses of witnesses and informants. This is only possible with LEO cooperation in the public’s mind.
Cashless bail and bail reform makes tying up loose ends easy if you have a case but the cops and feds aren’t doing anything to protect complainants and witnesses.
That last one is I think the real story. The sense of most people in high crime areas is that they will have their names released on crime reports they make on people who will want to shut them up.
But why are the feds having more problems than local LE? Bad press on their part.
Federal agents are presenting themselves as some sort of big brother stasi even on sympathetic platforms. A left wing activist I spoke with told me he was ecstatic on how off putting some of the new retired fed talking heads sound on the news because it’s driving the right from supporting law enforcement. LEO support mainly came from the right and these last few years have severely eroded it.
Back the Blue organizations have been losing support as well.
There’s also a feeling among many political activists, especially on the right, that feds have infiltrated almost all activist movements so people are on the lookout for “glowies’ (informants or undercover agents) which makes them suspicious of any federal agent coming to talk with them.
Even ones looking for missing children.
What this means in actuality is that a lot of crimes are going unreported because people don’t trust the feds. One of my peeps told me the online pedo catchers for example are only sending their catches to the cops as a CYA but know the cops and feds won’t peruse the cases. He said one pedo hunting groups straight up said to him the feds think the pedo hunters are the bad guys. Think about that for a minute.
That’s just the word on the street though. I’m presenting this too you as a partial explanation to the crime spike not being “taken seriously” in many minds. Crimes can’t be prosecuted without witnesses and complainants, which might be in short supply these days.
